Paradise Road Reconstruction Between Sahara and Las Vegas Blvd Begins April 22

Drivers should expect single-lane traffic and a St. Louis Avenue closure at Paradise Road through May 1.

A pavement reconstruction project on Paradise Road and St. Louis Avenue between Sahara Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard began Wednesday, April 22, and is scheduled to continue through Friday, May 1, 2026. The $500,000 project, managed by the city of Las Vegas and funded by the Regional Transportation Commission Fuel Indexing Tax, will restrict traffic to one through lane in each direction for much of its duration.

Lane Restrictions and Road Closures in Effect Through May 1

Traffic on Paradise Road between Sahara Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard will generally be limited to one through lane for both northbound and southbound travel during the project window. St. Louis Avenue will be fully closed at Paradise Road during the milling and paving phase of the work.

Work activities are scheduled between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Milling and paving operations are set to begin Monday, April 27, and are expected to take approximately three days, subject to weather and equipment availability.

Scope of Work: Utilities, Paving, and New Lane Striping

Primary work activities include lowering utilities, milling, dense-grade paving, raising utilities, and the installation of new lane striping. Preliminary work has already been completed, consisting of improvements to sidewalk areas to meet federal requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act, including the reconstruction of concrete cross gutter, curb, and gutter.

Amrize, Inc. is the contractor on the project. The city of Las Vegas is managing the work, which carries an estimated cost of $500,000 funded by the Regional Transportation Commission Fuel Indexing Tax.

Recommended Alternate Routes for Drivers

The city is recommending Sahara Avenue and Oakey Boulevard as alternate routes for east- and westbound traffic affected by the construction. Drivers traveling north or south are advised to use Las Vegas Boulevard as an alternate corridor.

Motorists in the area near the Strip corridor should plan for delays and allow additional travel time through the end of the project period on May 1.
